Feb 21, 2019 Y-Fi was challenged to create imagery — you can hear.
In partnership with Ypsilanti District Library, Y-Fi conceived of and produced “loud” photographs typically reserved for situations outside of a library. While some artists chose to collaborate, others had a strong sense of how they were going to make a scene in the stacks, without making a sound.
Project 2: éclat
3//21//19 The second art happening took place at Eastern Michigan University’s bustling Center. Artists were challenged to engage with the public to capture their photo in a bright setting with unexpected outcomes.
éclat /āˈklä/ noun
1. brilliant display or effect. "she came into prominence briefly but with éclat"
2. social distinction or conspicuous success.
The third art happening Red Rover, Red Rover took place on April 25 from 4:30-5:30 pm in front of Ypsilanti Community High School at 2095 Packard Road. No running or breaking of chains was necessary in our version. Instead, questions or riddles were asked. If you got it right, you brought that person back with you. If you got it wrong, you stayed. This event highlighted the invisible line of knowing/not knowing, before breaking the barrier/after breaking the barrier. All players got a sweet treat from Go! Ice cream and a personal worry from one of the artists.
