Book(let) release party

First, great news! We confirmed this past week that YFi will be funded for another year through 2020. Next year’s projects will be even bigger and more exciting so please stay tuned.

This past Friday we got to show off all our hard work in the form of a commemorative booklet. It’s hard to believe that our first year together is almost over so celebrating it at The Back Office Studio with community members meant so much for our YFi artists. Mary Garboden from Ypsilanti District Library was on hand to accept two copies into circulation for the public to check out.

Our intrepid artists included Kaire, Christian, Zahirah, Brittany, and Arieanna, who also served as our student speaker that evening. It was really a treat to hear her talk about how this experience has personally changed her perception of what she’s capable of.

The early part of the evening included playing the game Human Dominoes. Below, Brittany explains to Darryl Johnson, the new Executive Director of Mentor 2 Youth, how to play our performative game of mimicking.
